Celebrating International Women's Day

Published 08 March 2018

International Women’s Day gives us a moment to pause and take stock of the progress being made by individuals, organisations and communities around the world. And, it is terrific to read the stories of women in all walks of life achieving great things, together.

Originating in the early 1900’s at a time of great social, political and economic change, International Women’s Day has since evolved into a day of recognition for the achievements of women and at the same time acknowledging the critical issues that remain a priority. The 2018 theme #pressforprogress calls for gender parity in the workplace.

We are passionate about providing great career opportunities to employees of all social and professional backgrounds, and creating a level playing field for talented individuals to thrive and grow.”

“As Australia’s only top tier broking organisation with a female Chief Executive, female representation at the Executive table and in senior leadership and management positions across all areas of the business is contributing to our growth and commercial success. Visible leadership with the capability to build and lead diverse and inclusive teams matched with an environment that empowers people to be their best is our ambition for the business.”

In Australia specifically, this is 56%, with a roughly 50:50 split across all functional areas. This has happened organically, which may suggest an industry that is changing with the times and appealing to a broader cross-section of people.”

Sarah Lyons, Chief Executive (Australia), adds “International Women’s Day is about bringing people together in a show of unity, and that is something to be applauded.”
